STOP STEALING FROM JESUS

“Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit. Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not.”

Jeremiah 7: 8, 9

King James Version

All of us steal from Jesus every day. There are twenty four hours in a day and the Bible says that one tenth of the day belongs to Him. When we fall in love with Jesus, we won’t have any trouble trying to find time for Him, we will have an eagerness and excitement to spend time with our Saviour.

He says that we are not to walk after other gods, yet often we do this very thing. Anything or anyone that we put before Jesus has become a God to us. If we watch television before we talk to Jesus when we wake up, television has become a god to us. If we say good morning to our spouses and family before we say good morning to Jesus, we are hurting Him. It should be the desire of every Christian to make Jesus happy.

I used to put people on a pedestal and look to them for my happiness instead of looking to Jesus. I was sinning and hurting Him. Jesus is our happiness and joy. He is the One who Loves us so much that He died for us. We are to love one another and be a daily encouragement to each other, but they can’t fix us and we can’t fix them. Only Jesus can change a person’s heart.

How much time do you spend with Jesus during the day? That doesn’t mean that you have to be on your knees all day, but it does mean that you need to be in an attitude of prayer and that you should constantly be thinking of ways to make Him happy. Is Jesus smiling today because you have spent time with Him?
